As a senior teacher, seeing this in students and instructors, going that extra distance, that extra effort, seeing the connections made and that light-bulb moment. As a teacher, it is why we teach. Seeing the extraordinary…….

Unfortunately, I also see many inexperienced instructors who start their own dojo or school, who have massive ego’s, jump from style to style, and association to association. Have a blackbelt in Taekwondo (no offense) and another in Karate. They inform everyone of their expanding knowledge and status. They mimic their instructor, add even more exercises to their contract lessons, logon to YouTube, and believe they too are extraordinary.
.
They are not. They are the McDojo fakes.
.
Anyone can mimic their instructor. It takes someone extraordinary to take a legacy, build upon it, and make it their own, while respecting the origins. Anyone can copy, make a forgery, in the belief that they too are extraordinary, without making that extra effort, only just doing enough. In reality, their knowledge is limited, just scratching the surface, and based upon their delusional thoughts that they are something special.
.
They are not. They are the McDojo fakes.

We manifest an extraordinary experience and life by taking positive action towards it, doing it, being it. Spend time learning what you are really interested in. Don’t just scratch the surface, look deeper. Be curious. Live curious. Be in the beginners mind. It’s okay to not know how, but admit, that you do not know how. Start. Learn. Do that little extra……. Be extraordinary. ??
