“Karate, it’s both physical and mental. The ability to withstand pain and to become accustomed to fear. That requires both physical and mental sides.” – Kiyohide Shinjo 9th dan Uechi Ryu
.
You are your own worst enemy. Fortunately, you know all your weaknesses.
.
You know yourself better than anyone and you know where you want to go, and what you want to do. Have you thought about how you think about yourself? Have you become your own worst enemy? What lies have you entertained – and what is actually true?
.
Many people do not take responsibility for their own problems, preferring to blame others, or to take refuge in the belief that the world is stacked against them. They don’t realize that their worst enemy is staring right back at them in the mirror.
.
“But the worst enemy you can meet will always be yourself.” – Friedrich Nietzsche
.
Be honest with yourself because nobody is responsible for the path you take, your ultimate destiny, except you. You are, who you allow yourself to become. Your worst enemy cannot harm you as much as your own unguarded thoughts.
.
“The ultimate goal in a battle it is to eliminate in your opponent the desire to keep fighting.” ….. Therefore, don’t be your own worst enemy.
.
What really gets injured if someone insults you? Your pride, your ego? If you let it get to you so much that you want to throw down the gauntlet, to fight, you have already lost. You have lost your own self respect.
.
By letting people get to you by words you don’t like, means your ego is getting the better of you. It is a sign of a lack of confidence, a lack of intelligence, when people can rile you to the point of wanting to physically fight.
.
It is in human nature to want to fight. However, every fight comes with consequences. Don’t fight out of anger, a battered ego, don’t go for revenge.
.
“Your worst enemy cannot hurt you as much as your own thoughts, when you haven’t mastered them.” – Gautama Buddha
.
You brain is still your best defensive weapon against ANY threat, perceived or otherwise. Master your thoughts, and eliminate in your opponent the desire to keep fighting…. and that opponent, includes YOU.
