“I had a chance as a kid to walk in a boxing club and become who I am today… I want to give somebody else a chance to do the same thing because you never really know what a child can achieve, when given the opportunities….. I want to be positive and encourage kids to follow their dreams like I followed mine….I want to encourage people as much as I can to say, you know what? Anything is possible as long as you believe and you trust it and you follow it…. Anything you want to do in life can be done if you dedicate enough to it.” ??

Those old enough to remember ‘Record Breakers’ from TV in the UK, the words sung by the great Roy Castle at the end of each episode; ‘If you want to be the best, if you want to beat the rest, dedication’s what you need’.

As teachers we try to encourage and inspire our students to achieve more than us, to be better than they were yesterday, to be better than we were yesterday. It’s all about dedicating yourself, to work hard, to not give up when things are difficult. The martial arts requires of you commitment, self-sacrifice and dedication. It is not something you can do on a whim. There is so much to learn. This is why the martial arts are so very different to all other ‘sports’, ‘hobbies’ and ‘pastimes’. Because it is NOT one of those things. The martial arts should be a way of life. Think of these things when you question yourself why you are not progressing or having the success you desire.
.
Make martial arts you way of life. Work hard. See you at the dojo.
