“Everyone has a goal. Whether that is to become a world champion or not doesn’t really matter. Although your goal may often look hard to achieve at first, if you continually make efforts toward your goal, then your time, energy and commitment will never have been wasted. So, keep it up as much as you can. Stay strong until you win against yourself. And at the end of the day, you will always be the winner.” – Rika Usami

Goals are individual, not universal. Just because someone can run further than you, or lift heavier weights than you, or perform a kata better than you, doesn’t mean your effort isn’t valid. So work hard for you and your own goals.
.
Today, many of us are in a hurry, and want to see results, and want them yesterday. We worry that not seeing results immediately means that the attempt failed.
.
For many, that leads to a series of quick attempts, none of which are tried for a sufficient period of time, for anything significant, or even measurable, to have happened.
.
In the end, the attempts go nowhere. Because nothing seems to be working, people give up, and that is the same as standing still. They quit trying, and nothing changes in the way they desire.

“Be not afraid of growing slowly, be afraid only of standing still.” – Chinese proverb
.
It’s an important reminder that in our hectic, non-stop, take-away world, that wants instant results…… it’s okay, perhaps even preferable…… to grow slowly.
.
So today, I want to encourage you to keep making progress, no matter how slow you seem to be going. Stay patient. Don’t compare your progress with those around you….. And whatever you do, don’t stay still for too long.
