Do not be consumed by the desire to want other people’s rank.
.
Comparing yourself to people around you is a trap you can easily fall into. But, measuring your success in Karate by comparing belts with other people is a dead-end that only leads to frustration, jealousy and sadness in the long run.
.
The higher you climb, the less a rank should mean anyway.
.
The time will come for you to pass another level. Be patient. Stop focusing on “that belt”. Start focusing on yourself. Having a black belt means nothing if you do not conduct yourself as a black belt. So many people ignore this.
.
A black belt is not something you wear, it is something you become, a state of mind. It is not a license to stop learning. If you call YOURSELF “master” or “sensei” you probably aren’t one. Let go of the EGO, and the “I am in charge” frame of mind. You should have an open-minded attitude, ready to learn; without preconceived ideas, judgement or bias.
.
Be courteous, show respect, motivate, and inspire others; it’s not all about you. ??
