“Karate is not for a rank, glory or for revenge. It is way of life: A way to protect yourself, a way to build health, and a way to bring people together.“ – Minoru Higa 10th dan Shorin Ryu Kyudokan

Ever wanted to get revenge?
.
The first thing many of us think of after someone has wronged or disrespected us, is how to get even—how to hand out a dose of that person’s own medicine, in an attempt to feel totally vindicated. Most of us have thought about revenge at one point or another.
.
Does this really accomplish anything positive? We might gain some personal, though temporary satisfaction, but it does little to ease the pain others have inflicted upon us.
.
It’s a primal instinct to want to exact revenge when we’re wronged. The reason why people hold onto grudges and have a desire to take revenge, is because they are still holding on to the suffering which was caused by the other person. It makes us think that we are the innocent victim, and the other person is the bad one.
.
What it comes down to is this…. We can’t control when toxic emotions flood our minds, but we can control what we do in response to them. Seeking revenge or payback may seem like a good idea at the time, but in the long run it’ll likely only do us more harm.
.
People often misunderstand that taking revenge will make them feel better. This is just not true…. our mind tricks us into believing this statement. A person feels the same way even after taking revenge.
.
The best thing to do is just turn the hatred into indifference. Even if you have thought of revenge again and again, just think about it for few seconds…. and ignore it, let it go.
.
Letting go of those toxic feelings can give you an added bonus of making you feel powerful — not by exerting power over someone else, but power over yourself.
.
“Indulging in hate and revenge is like drinking saltwater, the thirst can only grow.” – Kwai Chang Caine
.
Revenge is an act. Action is voluntary. It is up to you to choose whether or not to act. Show strength and rise above it.
