If you don’t give anything TO the martial arts, don’t expect anything FROM the martial arts.

No matter your age or occupation, every day you are confronted with unexpected challenges. You either accept these challenges and meet them head-on, or you resist them, wishing they would just go away. Yet challenges are woven into the fabric of our lives. They are the tests we all have to face daily.
.
No matter how hard you try, some days, students are not engaged. There’s no way around it. Student apathy occurs when the student believes that their improvements lays completely with the instructor….. or maybe they have given up on the martial arts entirely.
.
We get it….. the martial arts are hard.
.
Deep down, some students know that they’re not putting in the effort they need to improve.
.
When you face the tests of life, whether inside or outside of your martial arts training, learn from them and grow with them, ‘become that person’. The tests of life require you to call on the inner resources residing deep inside you.
.
The martial arts, especially, have a highly delayed reward system, where benefits only come from training over a period of time, and applying yourself in many different ways.
.
The martial arts takes commitment, dedication and effort. Lots of effort. Be prepared for a long journey, not a walk around the block.
.
“There are two types of student. Those who practiced, and those who wish they had practiced.”
.
We cannot choose most of the tests we face in life, but we can choose how we’re going to face them. Are we going to have a miserable experience, crumble under the pressure, run away or avoid challenges altogether? Or are we going to find the strength and inner resources to rise to the challenges and fully realize your potential?

“Success is when you realize obstacles you face are challenges to help you become better – and your response equals the challenge.” – Stephen Covey
