Passionately chase your dream.
.
In all honesty, this is the only way to do it. The mistake people make is trying to become motivated, they think it’s something you either have, or you don’t have. Unfortunately, you have to work at motivation. This means you have to actively tell yourself that you will go train; that you will try to learn; that you will dedicate yourself to learning those techniques, principles and kata and so on. If you sit around waiting for your motivation to come back, it never will.
.
Swami Vivekananda (Hindu Monk 1863-1902) once said – “Take up one idea. Make that one idea your life; dream of it; think of it; live on that idea. Let the brain, the body, muscles, nerves, every part of your body be full of that idea, and just leave every other idea alone. This is the way to success, and this is the way great spiritual giants are produced.”
.
If you are looking for motivation in your training, to keep going, perhaps you are no longer being challenged by what you are learning.
.
Motivation is like an emotion and mastering emotions is an extremely difficult task. So rather than focussing on motivation, you should focus on having a goal, an idea, and having enough will power and discipline in life to achieve it, to reach it.
.
Motivation is momentary, discipline is what you should have in your life. Always remember that you have to put long term gains over short term pleasure. At the end of the day, if you do not sacrifice for what you want in your life, what you want becomes the sacrifice.
.
Everyone goes through a period in their lives when they feel less motivated. The challenge lies in breaking that mood. Just remember that the pain of regret is far worse than the pain of discipline.
.
There is nothing wrong with having trouble finding the motivation to train in the martial arts, even if you love it. There is something wrong with accepting this as an unchangeable fact. As with anything worthwhile in life, it’s up to you to make it work; nobody will do it for you.
.
The one word that separates the greats from the average. DISCIPLINE.…….
.
Train, and have fun!
